Lois Howick
Approaching each project as an adventure and living on a farm in rural Alton, she paints from personal visual experience. Her aim, to capture the mood felt when first encountering the subject.
Bio: Starting her painting journey as a Folk Artist, Lois loves to experiment in various mediums using different tools. Her body of work shows how a palette knife and brush can be used collaboratively. This practice has pushed her to look beyond the details to loosen up and enjoy a much more exciting creative process. Getting the big shapes manipulated into strong patterns, flexibility in interpreting detail follows.
Having taught for the Peel Board of Ed., Country Pleasures and in her own home studio, Lois has learned to share a wide range of techniques with her students. She particularly enjoys capturing local houses and barns into her landscapes.
