The Sewing Cafe

Kids, teens and adults, learn how to sew in a bright, inviting sewing place
and hang out with other sewists!

Bio: The Sewing Cafe has been in Georgetown, 9 yrs at 118 Mill St. The space is bright with large windows and lots of street parking. There is a wide selection of fabrics from quilting cottons, knits, fleece, wool and linen, as well as a variety of sewing notions, including thread, needles, scissors, fabric bundles and kits. Janome sewing machines are on display for sale, ranging from $299.00 up to $2,499.00.

Inspiration: Passionate about sewing and feel everyone should know how to sew! It teaches creativity, problem solving and patience.

Services Offered: In the 3 levels of Sewing Basics, you’ll learn everything from threading the sewing machine, to cutting a pattern out, zipper application, buttonholes and sewing on buttons. In level 2, follow a commercial pattern to make either an apron or messenger bag. In level 3, choose from a variety of patterns to make a garment.

Many other sewing workshops are available, including hemming and mending.
