“ TO CREATE A WORK OF ART INVOLVES SOMETIMES A VISION AND SOMETIMES A FEELING, BUT ALWAYS IT INVOLVES SOUL”.
I was raised on a farm in the Niagara Region which taught me the respect and appreciation for nature that today I use to nurture my soul and draw inspiration from for my artwork. Initially, I focused on representational works in oil and watercolour but today nature inspires me through line, texture, colour and form to create both representational and abstractions in a wide variety of mediums.
A self-taught artist as a child, today my knowledge and skills have been shaped by formal courses at U of York, OCAD, Fleming College as well as by many workshops given by accomplished Canadian artists.
I love working in a variety of mediums and in a variety of styles. My subject matter and vision determine how I approach a painting, whether it will be realistic, impressionistic or abstracted and whether it will be in oils, acrylics, encaustics or some other medium.
I have been blessed with many awards and my paintings hang in Canada, the USA and the UK.
